25 Essential Expressions

Here's an example of one of the hundreds of submissions Deviant Art had for it's 25 Essential Expressions Challenge. Although this one is a little safe I still think it's solid work. Check out this link to see the many others submitted (though I have no idea why about 90% of the submissions were anime/manga style... booooriiing)

Great Work and the Principles of Fun

While Stumbling around the net I came upon a site (the Posibility Virus) whose content peaked my interest in a big way. Lately I've found myself a little lost as to what I want to to and whare I want to go in life. I decided to worry less about it and try to somply have more fun in my life and let go of my tight grip on things. It's a little scary coz I feel I'm climbing into a human canon about to be shot blindfolded into the unknown and for all I know there's a brick wall out there with my name on it. Anyway, these couple of simple Flash 'films' offer some interesting and inspiring concepts about life.

1. The Eight Irresistible Principles of Fun
2. Find Your Great Work

Both are based on a book I may have to check out called Find Your Great Work by Michael Bungay Stanier.

Alive in Joburg / District 9

The first teaser trailer for the intriguing new film by Neill Blomkamp called District 9 is out, but before you see it or the film itself, watch the short film that the feature is based on called Alive in Joburg;

Looks really interesting. Clearly it's a literal take on the illegal alien situation in South Africa (and worldwide) but I do love the documentary style of it. Now check out the amazing teaser for the District 9 feature. Note the alien being interrogated at the end. It was key animated by my buddy Christian here in Vancouver. Awesome work there mate!

iSnort

Finally I can snort my cocaine without having to actualy snort cocaine, just to help me get that habitual fix from the action of snorting. Introducing the iSnort for the iPhone.

Unfortunately it's not an actual app but a video you have to choreograph to. Not too sure how well it'll go down with the anti-drug mob, but for only £5 it's a bargain for that non-high high.

Cincinnati Super Heroes (?)

It seems that someone has been reading too many issues of 'Kick-Ass' (soon to be a feature film released later this year - see pics below) and 'Watchmen'. A little odd and not quite as cool as the afore mentioned titles me-thinks.

CAROUSEL, A Short Film

Created entirely by Stink Digital, this new interactive campaign promotes Philips latest entrant into the television market, the CINEMA 21:9. Since the televisions 21:9 frame lends itself so readily to film, our friends at Tribal DDB, Amsterdam commissioned us to create a piece of filmed content that could hold its own with Hollywoods best. Director Adam Berg responded with an idea for an epic frozen moment cops and robbers shootout sequence that included clowns, explosions, a decimated hospital, and plenty of broken glass and bullet casings.
This epic film is the centrepiece of the project. On its own, it clocks in at a (totally coincidental) two minutes and 19 seconds, but Berg conceived it to work as
an endless loop. Visitors to the microsite therefore have the option to spin through the films single take shot repeatedly, to stop on a specific frame, or to watch it at the preordained speed. The film also contains embedded hotspots, which, when triggered, transport the viewer seamlessly from the heavily posted film to a behind-the-scenes version of the same shot. This constant moving between two layers of reality proved one of the projects biggest and most ambitious production challenges. Other details of the online execution play off the cinematic theme; the microsites loader doubles as a credit sequence, while rich media takeover banners drive traffic to the site by teasing viewers with an original Carousel trailer. All aspects of the production, from the film shoot to web design and development, were conducted by Stink Digital.

Mary and Max - Full Trailer

Here's the full trailer to the new feature film by Aussie Adam Elliot that opened the Sundance film festival this year. I can't wait to see it and support this amazing talent.

I Heart Sketch

This program allows you to draw in 3 dimension. Wild stuff. Now THIS may be the link between 2D and 3D we've been waiting for.

BumpTop

Fuck Windows desktops! They are bullshit. Check out the new 3D desktop called 'BumpTop' that looks more like... well... a desktop. Sweet. I'm gonna install it right now. In the mean time here's the video demonstrating it.

Dark Knight / Watchmen Girl

My two favourite graphic novels; 'The Dark Knight Returns' and 'Watchmen', just got a whole lot better by adding a swell new dimension. Boobs. Finally!!!

Hawking Sex

I was watching a doco about Stephen Hawking and remembered this hilarious clip from Family Guy. The final line from Helen is a gem.

TR2N Teaser Trailer

I know this is somewhat old but goddam it looks awesome. Embarrassingly I've never even seen the first one as I never really dug the look of the digital world but this new version looks amazing. Especially when he's ripping down that tunnel. I prefer the organic nature of the coloured walls the bikes make to the angular ones of the original. (Pfft, what a fuckin' geek!) The quality is total shite but check it out anyway.

'Half-Blood Prince' Trailer

'Happy Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' is looking pretty good. I've been burnt by this damn series on every occasion except 'Goblet of Fire' yet I remain intrigued. It's a damn cool story and I do like that they're getting darker. It's good to see the characters turning eventually.

Check out the trailer on Youtube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9memLopBGBM&fmt=22

'Moon' Trailer

This film looks awesome. It's a cool little indie sci-fi with Sam Rockwell called 'Moon'. Now shut up and watch it!!

Realistic Super Mario T-Shirt

Cool idea and has a bit of an 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass' kinda feel.

I just have one question; Why the hell does Yoshi have human hands? Was that in the game?
